This collection of over 1.5 million part numbers is based on the original work of Interchange Incorporated, founded by Sy H. Friedman. Sy was introduced to electronic data processing in 1955 after working with bearings for 30 years. He immediately realized the benefit of using data processing to solve the growing need for reliable cross-reference information. He researched various numbering systems used in parts catalogs and created the Rapid Reference System™—a simple and unique method for organizing the data.

The first International Bearing Interchange (IBI) Guide was printed in 1966 and was sold throughout the world in over 160 countries. Numerous reprints and expansions followed, ultimately leading to the online website partscrossreference.com originally launched in 2001. After over 60 years, our database has grown to over 1.5 million part numbers, with parts cross-referencing volumes covering Bearings, Seals, Drive Belts, Filters, Mounted Units, and Prefix/Suffix Identification.

We understand the cross-referencing problems that have been created over the last century due to mergers, buyouts, and the ongoing growth in the parts industry.
